FACTS ON WAXING AND KERATIN HAIR STRAIGHTENING TREATMENT
WAXING is yet another aspect of the beauty industry, which is consistently gaining
popularity and momentum. From basic facial waxing, like eyebrows or the upper lip,
to full body waxing such as legs, backs, bikini and Brazilians. Waxing is just another
way for BOTH MEN AND WOMEN to entertain the idea of personal grooming in a
clean and private environment with a skilled and knowledgeable technician.
As popular as it is, there tends to be somewhat of a stigma that comes with waxing.
To better educate existing and potential clients, we think it is important that you, the
consumer, have the facts:
- When you are considering venturing into the world of waxing, here are some
things that you should look for.....
• A clean, sanitary environment.....is the set up of the room clean & sanitary?
Tweezers and/or implements should have the appearance of being clean.
• Wax warmers should have covers.
• Tables & wax warmers should be clean & free of excess wax (no dripping
down the sides or across table).
• Clean linens & towels. (Does it look like someone has been there before you?)
- Other factors to consider...
• Has the technician sanitized their hands or put on gloves?
• Is the technician using one stick & one strip for every new dip into the wax?
NO DOUBLE DIPPING!!!!
• Is the technician knowledgeable, educated & informed? Don't be afraid to ask
questions, that is what they are there for.
Little touches, such as above listed, are just a few ways to make your waxing experience
a great one.
Consistency is the key.... one of the biggest misconceptions about waxing is that
once you wax, the hair will come back in thicker & darker. It's quite the opposite.
The more consistent an individual is with waxing, the hair will grow back with a finer
texture as well as being more sparse. But consistency is the key!! For some clients,
they will see results after only one or two sessions, others it may take 6 or more. You
need to keep in mind that with waxing, you are slowly breaking down the hair follicle.
Follicle size can range from client to client, depending on the hair type.
AFTERCARE......remember, with hair removal via waxing, the hair follicle is being
turned inside out. Very light bleeding at the follicle site is very normal, especially for
the first and even the second session. Redness is also very normal. With the average
client, redness will typically fade within 2-6 hours. This varies from client to client.
Tanning and hot tubs are not recommended for at least 24 hours following a wax.
You should never tan immediately after a wax either. This is freshly waxed skin and
can burn very easily. You may also notice that following any waxing service, when
you shower or bathe for the first time depending on the temperature of the water as
it hits the skin, it may feel similar to a sunburn. YOUR SKIN NEEDS TIME TO
RECOVER.
Facial & body waxing can be very beneficial & worthwhile, as long as you're informed.
